The Actuarial Loss Analytics Director will require application of actuarial approaches to ensure appropriate adequacy and reporting, as well as innovative thinking, to help drive newly developed strategic vision(s). By means of leveraging available data, industry information, foundational analytics for critical decision making, and helping with development of analytical tools and insights.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, technical and communication skills, be committed to developing strong business acumen, and most importantly, will work well in a team environment in close partners
hips internally with Underwriting, Claims, IT, Finance, and other functions, and externally with underwriting carriers and other 3rd parties.

Organization and prioritization skills are crucial to this role, given its dual-purpose nature. The candidate will need to balance multiple tasks and coordinate with others to help with resources as needed. **Hybrid position; 2-3 days onsite at the Conshohocken, PA Home Office**

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of insurance products by evaluating and approving insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures while assessing the product through quarterly reviews.
  • Oversee the preparation of actuarial reports, financial statements, and regulatory filings and assist in the development of financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections.
  • Research and select major rating assumptions to support accurate statistical analysis and evaluate the effectiveness of existing rating plans.
  • Evaluate product performance against established profitability targets and recommend modifications.
  • Partner with IT and Strategy and Analytics teams to bring efficiencies to and modernize current data processes as well as enhance analytical capabilities.
  • Assist with and/or lead quarterly in-depth analysis for several business divisions, with intended discussions around assumptions and uncertainty, including presentation to executives, development of ongoing forecast process together with input on trend and plan projections.
  • Collaborate closely with business division leaders, underwriting and claims to identify loss trends and emerging issues that could impact results and assist in developing proposals for corrective action.
  • Assist with developing tools, metrics, and dashboards to inform and support the quarterly result and drivers behind it.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics.
  • Having passed actuarial exams, administered by professional organizations such as the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS).
  • Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), preferred.
  • Corporate Actuarial experience, at least 6-8 years.
  • Previous team management experience required.
  • Skilled project leader – able to manage multiple priorities and direct work through others.
  • Ability to establish and build effective relationships within the organization.
