The Underwriter will be responsible for daily contact with agents within the P&C marketplace discussing risk, negotiating on pricing, coverage, and acceptability while providing and/or requesting information. This position will communicate with the marketing team about inquiries concerning service, risk evaluation, questions on procedures, rates, premium evaluation, and service.

 

**Hybrid schedule, 2-3 days onsite. Office located in Dallas, TX & New Orleans, LA.**

Responsibilities

  • Generate, underwrite, and analyze accounts. 
  • Risk selection by qualifying leads and identifying target market. 
  • Communicate with brokers for new and renewal business. 
  • Price and issue multiple quotes with selected markets. 
  • Develop and maintain strong broker relationships, including visitation. 
  • Thorough documentation of underwriting file. 
  • Monitor claim activity and reporting. 
  • Work closely with leaders in negotiation and handling of larger accounts.
  • Prepare thorough and succinct referral(s) to supervisor or company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of commercial property & casualty underwriting experience with specific expertise in towing, garage, and used car dealership programs. 
  • Multi-line P&C background to include Commercial Auto, Garage Keepers Liability, Dealers Open Lot, Commercial General Liability and Commercial Property, preferred.
  • Ability to develop and foster carrier and broker relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude to negotiate, influence and close deals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  • Open to travel as necessary, less than 20% per year.
  • P&C license required, or to be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
