The Director of Data & Analytics reports to the Chief of Data & Analytics Officer and is responsible for driving cloud data strategy, governance, reporting, and assistance with implementing artificial intelligence (A.I) based solutions to drive sustainable and profitable growth. This role will work with Program Directors, Underwriters, and additional Department Leaders to design, develop, and implement data products that provide actionable insight into all areas of the enterprise. This is a leadership position that will allow the right candidate to be part of a growing team, spear heading the data driven, digital transformation strategy.

 

We are looking for a passionate data professional with hands-on coding, implementation, and analysis experience that can lead, develop, and provide a vision for the team.  The Director of Data and Analytics will have the opportunity to drive new technology implementation and truly impact the digital transformation of NSM Insurance Group’s niche programs. **This is a hybrid position, 2-3 days onsite at the Conshohocken, PA Home Office**

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Execution Expectation:

  • Develop an understanding of the business and system processes to provide vision and assist in building future target-state data and analytics roadmap in collaboration with key business and technology leaders.
  • Own the roadmap and architecture of Cloud Data Strategy that enables reporting, analytics, data science, data management, and improves accessibility, efficiency, governance, processing, and quality of data.
  • Lead, develop, and deploy data science projects that have material impact on profitability and growth initiatives.
  • Provide data and business expertise to analyze and distill results in easy-to-understand presentations prepared for business stakeholders and senior leadership audiences.

Data Management and Governance

  • Oversee the creation of a comprehensive data catalog and data dictionary to ensure easy accessibility and understanding of data assets across multiple business entities.
  • Establish framework that allows for monitoring and improving data quality and processing.
  • Lead CI/CD best practices that enhance Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and other Data Products across all programs.

Team Development

  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Create and implement professional development plans for team members, helping them stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies.
  • Identify skills gaps within team and develop strategy to develop team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, economics, or similar quantitative area required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with Microsoft and deep understanding of Azure technology stack.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience deploying analytic tools using multi-disciplinary functional systems such as CRM, web analytics, production, customer, and financial data.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience developing complex data models/schemas that allows for flexible self-service as well as deep-dive analysis.
  • Minimum 5 years of Insurance industry or related experience with responsibility for developing advanced quantitative, analytical, and data science solutions.
  • Hands-on experience applying a wide variety of technology solutions to problems spanning operational efficiency optimization, underwriting profitability analysis, predictive modeling, data ETL/ELT, data warehousing, data lake, and data visualization.
  • Expert in SQL.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R, Data Bricks, and Azure Synapse.
  • Proficiency in Master Data Management (MDM) concepts, tools, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and an innovative approach to solving both practical and theoretical problems.
  • Proven organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong technical and communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal and team development skills.
