The Underwriting Assistant (UA) assists underwriters in writing, managing, and servicing new and renewal business to include all lines of property and casualty insurance. This role will perform initial review of accounts, rate coverage in carrier systems and prepare files for underwriting, as well as policy issuance and endorsement processing. The UA will work in conjunction with underwriters to provide superior customer service via phone and email in a fast-paced environment. (Hybrid schedule, 2-3 days onsite)**

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate accounts to determine acceptability with underwriting appetite.
  • Interact with agent clients to provide superior customer service via phone and email.
  • Review submissions for completeness, accuracy and make requests for additional information.
  • Rate and issue policies.
  • Partner with the Accounting team to bill accounts.
  • Provide reports to management when requested.
  • Responsible for all documentation of Underwriting files.
  • Attend team meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follow up as needed for requested information.
  • Fully assist Underwriters in all aspects of their primary responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Previous insurance experience, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to service and maintain strong relationships with agents.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates teamwork capabilities.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet applications.
