The Sports and Wellness Underwriting Assistant will have daily contact with agents discussing accounts to acknowledge receipt, determine acceptability, gather information, rate new business and manage the pipeline. The UA will communicate with agency marketing representatives responding to inquiries regarding service and questions on procedures. This individual will work in a team environment to meet service priorities and due dates and provide reports, data and other needed information to the management team.


  • Evaluate accounts to determine acceptability within the underwriting appetite.
  • Review submissions for completeness and accuracy and make requests for information.
  • Rate, quote, bind and issue policies in accordance with stated underwriting authority.
  • Submit referrals to supervisor, underwriter or management as required.
  • Support a book of new and renewal business consisting of various accounts to achieve written premium and loss ratio objectives.
  • Provide reports to management as needed and requested.
  • Attend meetings and performs other duties as assigned.


  • 1-2 years of commercial lines insurance experience preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferred
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must possess insurance knowledge with analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to service and maintain strong relationships with agents.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates teamwork capabilities.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet applications.
