The AR Team Lead plays an important role in ensuring premiums are paid timely and policies are cancelled, when necessary, in order to keep the aging receivables to a minimum. As team lead, it’s expected that the candidate will have a strong knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and an understanding of SOX control requirements. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual who is a team player but can work independently, think critically, problem solve and provide quality ideas to improve the organization’s processes.


(This is a hybrid role, 2-3 days onsite per week)**


  • In partnership with the AR Manager, oversee a team of accountants and administrators performing various accounts receivable functions and lead them to achieving their goals.
  • Supervise the cash application task for various lines of businesses by posting cash to accounts receivable and general ledger accounts.
  • Oversee 3rd party financing relationships enabling customers to acquire products & services at attractive rates for selected lines of business.
  • Manage customer modifications to their insurance coverages to meet customer needs.
  • Prepare or review journal entries involving account receivable transactions.
  • Ability to work in multiple subledger systems across various insurance programs.
  • Reconcile key monthly balance sheet accounts.
  • Partner and communicate with internal sales and underwriting teams regarding brokers’ & agents’ transactions.
  • Address internal and external customers’ questions and issues with timely and accurate answers.
  • Promote good image and ideals of company with external parties.
  • Communicate effectively and cordially with all members of the finance department.
  • Complete assigned tasks in the month end close process.
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute account receivable reports to assist in monitoring business transactions.
  • Oversee the monthly broker commission payment process for various lines of business.
  • Partner with Treasury Department on cash reconciliations and backup banking administration.
  • Ad hoc duties as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or accounting-related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in accounting or accounts receivable
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail, accuracy and accountability
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with operational and financial personnel
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, work effectively in a team environment and meet deadlines
